2021 - A Glass and Toilet Paper

Hi! I’m Sam. I’m a wife, mother, grandmother and shopkeeper. Maybe we’ve already met….but, if we have not….welcome! I’m so glad you’re here! I am the owner of Little Arrow Furnishment.

So, I’m going to be honest. I don’t know what I’m doing. Like….for real. Most days I’m just winging it…BUT, I am lucky enough to be surrounded by a group of people who get me. They are my cheerleaders. And if you’ve made it through this first paragraph- you’re starting to get me.

Hi! I’m Sam. I’m a wife, mother, grandmother and shopkeeper. Maybe we’ve already met….but, if we have not….welcome! I’m so glad you’re here! I am the owner of Little Arrow Furnishment. Something that started as a little side project, because I needed something to fill my days. I won’t share my whole life story on the first blog but, I will share what’s around the corner.

There’s always room for growth and improvement, so everyday I try to wrap my head around how I’m supposed to grow. I’m always anxious to share my space with you when you walk through my door and I pray that’s good enough. I’m a pretty insecure person and I’m always amazed with the responses I get when people hear me say that. I think they’ve mistaken confidence with my inability to calm the hell down. I think with age I have become this woman that isn’t afraid to try something. If at first you don’t succeed…

Last year was nutty to say the least. I’ve seen many retailers, big and small, close their doors. It makes someone in my position a nervous wreck.

I’m going into 2021 15 pounds heavier because my handsome husband took to baking and became the stay at home spouse… so I’ve had wonderful dinners after a long day at work. Followed by a cake or something yummy. Maybe I’ll eat more salads this year, followed by cake of course. I’m not going to beat myself up about it.

We bought a house in 2020 after living in a rental for the last 3 years. We were trying to figure out what we were going to do with ourselves. So in this new year I hope to start sharing stories about our new (old) home and what we do with it. I have plans!

I really want to try some online classes until we can all be back together again. Just more screen time in general until we get through all the icky stuff in the world. I miss my friends!

In the meantime, I’m going to keep filling my shop with the things that I love and pray that you keep loving me for it. I’m an incredibly lucky girl….believe me, I know it! It’s because of each and every one of you who walk through my door that I get to do what I love and I thank you for it! You are the reason that Little Arrow can turn the lights on every day. You keep me here. I couldn’t do it without you!

So I’m running head first in to the new year-taking on whatever challenges are thrown at me. Hopefully with some grace. Maybe less cuss words…(hmmm..who am I kidding?)

My hope is that when you walk in to my store you can feel my heart.

I hope you like my things because I got them with you in mind.

I hope you love me as much as I love you. I can’t wait to hug again.

I hope this new year brings you peace and joy.

My beautiful mother in law got my grandson the sweetest book for Christmas. It’s called “The boy, the mole, the fox, and the horse.” If you haven’t read it, I highly recommend it. I wouldn’t consider it a child’s book. It’s a people book full of things to make a persons heart full. One of my favorite passages is short and sweet and I would like to share it with you.

“Is your glass half empty or half full?” asked the mole. “I think I’m grateful to have a glass.” said the boy.

That is enough for me. I’ll be going into this new year with a glass. That’s pretty exciting….and toilet paper. Never run out of toilet paper.
